New 89 Tartan 31 Owner

Hi Zach, Welcome to the club. I believe we have exceeded 4 knots but will verify this week. Last year I switched to a Campbell fixed three blade prop and am still assessing velocity at various rpms. Good question. Chris

Good question. I've been toolin' around for 10 years and can't answer your question. I'll have to get back to you when I'm in the water and underway (it may be a few weeks). I do remember that my throttle backs off voluntarily from max rpms so I'll have to hold it to answer your question.

Nice to meet you. I have a question on your boat speed under power. Can you tell me you maximum speed and what RPM? I am trying to understand if 4.1 knots boat speed (not SOG) at 2800 RPM is normal.

Ahoy Zack, Congratulations and welcome to Tartan ownership. I too have a 1988 T31 hull number 22. I am only the second owner of Second Wind and have enjoyed and upgraded her over the past 10 years. Originally from Rockport MA, she's now at Kingman Yacht Center in Cataumet MA (Cape side of Buzzards Bay). There is also a T31 Piper owner at KYC as well. I haven't been too active in TONE but I might be able to help you somewhat (I'm not mechanical) with some of your T31 questions/problems/upgrades.

Congratulations and welcome aboard, Zach! This club is a great resource and community.

Looks like an awesome boat. :D

Hello, I recently purchased a 1989 Tartan 31, hull 86, and re-christened her Sirena. She is docked at Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City, NJ. This is my first boat after sailing 40 years and I am really enjoying her. Look forward to learning from the other members in this group.
