Mike, I have hull #22 (pre-Piper) and have asked Tartan most of my questions as I lost the original owners manual. Unfortunately Art Averell retired but there must be someone there who can help you. Call 'em 1920 Fairport Nursery Rd, Fairport Harbor, OH 44077 (440) 392-2628. Chris Ranney has also helped me. ChrisR@tartanyachts.com.

I recently purchased a 1993 Tartan 31. The jib halyard (wire to rope) has significant wear and needs to be replaced. I would prefer to replace it with a low stretch line without the wire. Does anyone know if Tartan provided the Piper 31 with this setup originally when new in 1993? I am trying to ascertain if the mast head block is a wire sheave or rope block?
