New England Cruise 2012

TONE announces its 2012 New England Cruise.

This year is different -- the cruise is set up to be Hop-On, Hop-Off with many planned stops and overnighters.

Start Thursday, August 2, 2012, from eastern Connecticut, pick your segment or go all the way to Southwest Harbor, Maine. Members are free to join and leave the cruise at any point.

The cruise fee and meal sign ups are due by June 15, 2012. Click here for the paper form.  Print out the form and mail in a check for both initial sign up and addition of meals if you have already signed up.

Formerly known as the Maine Cruise, TONE has conducted these events in even-numbered years since the 1990s, and has consistently attracted 15-20 boats. These have always been wonderful opportunities to share the beautiful Maine scenery with other TONE members, while enjoying extended camaraderie. In 2012, for the first time, we are restructuring the cruise in order to enable even more members to participate.

TONE will be arranging meals in a number of ports, including Gloucester, Sebasco, Camden and probably Southwest Harbor.  Sign up for the cruise now so we make sure to contact you as arrangements are finalized.

We are planning a major two day event in Gloucester Massachusetts on August 7-9, which will enable members from eastern Connecticut to participate and still arrive home by Sunday, August 12, 2012. This reduces the time commitment from two weeks to one. A second major two day event is planned for Casco Bay in southwestern Maine on August 11-13, and a third for Camden in Penobscot Bay August 14-16.  The formally organized part of the cruise will end in Southwest Harbor on August 18 with a BYOB cocktail party.  These shorter hops and longer stays means that those going all of the way to Penobscot Bay or Mt. Desert Island will probably want to make a three week commitment, unless making an overnight  trip directly to the Cape Cod Canal on the return.

Mark your calendars now and save the dates!  More details will be available on the web site as they become available.
