We had not intended to stop at Cape May on the way up the coast this summer, but a very powerful thunderstorm cell chased us in there and a broken bolt in the engine block kept us there. This was the swankest place we stayed during the entire trip. It is indeed a resort marina, with its own swimming pool, no less. More important for us, it has a great service department whose people were able to get our engine fixed and get us back underway the next day.
The marina is almost exclusively populated by big sportfishing cruisers--there was only one other sailboat in a slip when we were there. All docks are floating and in excellent condition. Water depth isn't a problem unless you're right up against the bulkhead. There's a little-larger-than-usual store and a laundry. There's a West Marine just down the road, within walking distance.
The best thing about Canyon was their understanding for our situation. Despite staying beyond "check-out time" the day after we got there, they only charged us for the slip for one day (the rate was $3.00/foot).
