Marine Surveyor Recommendation?
Author Last Post

Thanks!
A few years ago I used Paul Shaw to survey a 1970 Tartan 34:

He was recommend by a friend who used to be a broker and by the time Paul was done, I was pretty sure that my friend recommended him because Paul was a surveyor he didn't want to see show up to survey a prospective sale.

I also liked the fact that when Paul was done with the survey, he told me that before he started he was prepared to tell me to walk almost immediately and we would just go out for breakfast.  His reason was that he had seen enough boats of this era with major deck issues.  Although these problems could be fixed, the repairs were generally not worth the money and effort.  Essentially, he didn't want to charge me for a full survey of a boat he was going to recommend I stay away from.
Thomas,
Daniel Briggs conducted the survey on the Tartan 33 I purchased about 19 years ago.  Here is a link to his contact information:

I was pleased with his work.  He conducted a pre-purchase survey and accompanied me on sea trials.
Good luck with the boat.

Tartan 33 #73, Kelpie

Whom would you recommend as the most knowledgeable surveyor for a late 80s Tartan 40?  The boat is in Connecticut, so perhaps the best in Connecticut, Rhode Island or Massachusetts?  Thanks in advance!
