I have hull #56.

Yes, I have the same vent hose.  It vents the tank and runs along the hull and connects to a fitting below the starboard winch.  I have replaced both fuel lines from the tank to the engine.  Also washed the tank and connections with orange soap.  Have looked for signs of leaks, but Have found none.  I was wondering if there were any owners that tried to vent that locker or have the slight smell of diesel fuel in that locker.

thanks
Hi David. I also have an 86 T34-2 Hull #45. My fuel tank has a vent hose routed on the inside up along the toe rail aft to the cockpit locker and then is vented just below the starboard winch. You may also check the hoses running to and from the fuel pump to see if they are wet. I had some original hose on my boat that I found weeping fuel through the old hose jacket. The fuel residue was even getting into the bilge a little bit. These old hoses are fabric covered and should be replaced if they are original.
I own a Tartan 1986 Tartan 34 2.  The diesel fuel tank is located under the starboard settee in the main cabin.  When I check that locker I notice a weak smell of diesel fuel.  So I am wondering if the locker in your boat has an air vent to the outside?

thanks

David
