Mine is mounted approx. 6 feet in front of the leading edge of the keel, dead center of the hull. I don't believe there is any balsa at that point. I used an Airmont which gives you Speed ( built in paddle ) depth and water temp...Note: The newer version eliminates the paddle and uses sonar for speed...Hope this helps

Can anyone tell me where to mount an inhull transducer for depth gauge on a Tartan 33? I need a spot with solid glass, no core and preferably more or less level.
